Solar Straight produces a modelled estimate from public data. It is not a quote, an offer, or a commitment by anyone to install anything at any price. Only an installer who has inspected your roof can give you a real number.

What the model cannot see

The calculator has never seen your roof. It does not know about shading from trees or neighbouring buildings, the age or condition of your roof, whether your electrical panel needs upgrading, local permit and interconnection costs, or the state and utility incentives available where you live. Several of those can move the result by thousands of dollars in either direction.

Assumptions that may not hold

• Electricity prices are assumed to rise at a steady long-run average. Real prices move unevenly and can fall.
• Exported surplus power is valued at zero. If your utility pays for exports, your real return will be better than shown.
• All figures assume a cash purchase. Loans, leases and power purchase agreements have materially different economics.
• Production is modelled from typical-year weather. Any individual year will differ.

Tax law changes

The estimate applies no federal tax credit, because the Residential Clean Energy Credit under IRC Section 25D was terminated for home purchases after 31 December 2025. Tax law can change again, and state and local incentives change frequently. Confirm the position that applies to you with a tax professional before relying on it.

Third-party data

Production and electricity rate data come from the National Renewable Energy Laboratory, and geocoding from the US Census Bureau. These are reputable public sources but their accuracy is not guaranteed by this site, and neither organisation endorses it.
